Wedding Gift Ideas

Wedding Gift Guide

Getting married is one of the most special occasions anyone will experience. The pledging of their eternal love for each other is both an intense and joyous experience.

A wedding can be a great family occasion watching such happy, in love people get married. Weddings are great because they remind all of us how much the people in our lives mean to us and how lucky we all are.

Finding the perfect wedding gift

To get the perfect, suprise gift a subtle approach is required. Pay attention to what your friend or loved one says and does. Often they will provide clues regarding the wedding gift that they would like, or at least give you some clues regarding the general area to look in.

Once you have a rough idea about what wedding gift they would like, don't be afraid to think laterally to find the perfect wedding gift. Often you can find an ideal gift in the most unlikely of places and the fact that you've thought so hard about the wedding gift will make it extra special.

Remember, it really is the thought that counts

Possible wedding gift ideas

There are a number of quite innovative wedding gifts currently available. If the happy couple are interested in space then what better wedding gift than an acre of the moon or even the chance to name a star!

Maybe an olive tree would be nice to symbalise the abundance, glory and peace shared by the newly wed couple. If the couple are wine lovers then what better wedding gift than a share of their own vineyard, complete with their own labled wine from some of the best vineyards in France.

From here much of the work is down to you. You know your friends and loved ones better than anyone and you alone can choose the perfect wedding gift for them. Nevertheless there are several online gift shops that offer a good range of wedding gifts at good value.

Good luck with your shopping. Babs

Wedding presents can be risky. Always, always shop from the list if that's an option. The wedding list is usually the way that the couple get themselves kitted out with all those things they ought to have but would never buy - carving knives, a decent dinner service, nice wine glasses, etc. If the guests don't play ball, the happy couple will end up with 15 toasters and no plates! Oh, and don't forget to put a label inside the box too - chances are they'll forget to write down who gave them what at least once, so if there's a label inside the box it makes it much easier. And we still see those labels when we get out our special wine glasses, 15 years after our wedding - a lasting reminder of who gave us them!

Having said that, everyone wants to give that little extra personal gift too. The most touching gift we were given was a 'going away bag' - a little shiny gift bag containing a roll of film, some choccie and biscuits to nibble in the airport, and some other little nicknacks to keep us entertained on our journey off on our honeymoon. NB Austrian sheep like Pooh Bear Honey Cookies, and will follow you anywhere once you've fed them a mouthful!!

Things you could put in include - a puzzle book or two, a couple of handkerchieves or pack of tissues, a photo of the bride and groom together, a pen and/or pencil, a little notebook, a 'just married' gift book or similar (e.g. a book of love poetry), an underwater disposable camera if you know they're going to the seaside. It's fun killing an hour or so in the departure lounge opening a little bag of tiny gifts, and it's surprising how useful they can be - even to an Austrian shepherdess!
