Charity Giving with World Vision
Are you stuck for unique gift ideas?
It's always a struggle to think of unique presents for friends and family members. World Vision can help with the age-old question of what to buy the man / woman who has everything. The answer is a gift for someone who has nothing. Who are World Vision?
The Alternative Gift Catalogue is part of World Vision's carefully planned initiatives to help some of the world's poorest communities make their way out of poverty. This is because most of the gifts arrive in the context of our long-term development programmes. Here, community leaders and local committees helped by our dedicated national staff-identify their needs and priorities, including the gifts featured in this catalogue. Which means the gifts you buy are really needed- and will be treasured when they arrive.
It is this kind of smart thinking that has made World Vision, which is a Christian charity, one of the world's leading relief, development and justice agencies. We are also one of the largest- presently helping more than 100 million people in nearly 100 countries in their struggle against poverty, hunger and injustice, irrespective of their religious beliefs.
World Vision receives the financial support of the UK Government, the European Union, charitable trusts corporate supporters - in addition to almost 90,000 people who sponsor children in poor communities overseas.
World Vision is a member of several major agency groups including the Disasters and Emergency Committee (DEC), British Overseas NGO's for Development (BOND) and the Consortium for Street Children (CSC).
World Vision is a OneWorld partner. OneWorld is an international partnership of agencies working for sustainable development.

The Good Gift Guide

1 Comments:
I went for a charity gift for my wifes birthday recently. It always seemed so contrived to buy a gift just for the sake of it on her birthday, which often happened as we would normally buy things we needed when we needed them. So I thought this year to get a charity gift that will really help the needy. The World Vision site is dead easy to navigate and I ended up buying a flock of sheep as I thought that would provide alot of benefit.
The wife loved it and I'm very tempted to do a similar thing for many other gifts too. Thanks for the suggestion Barbara.
