Wonderful Gifts from the British Museum

The British Museum Company Limited was founded in 1973 by the Trustees of The British Museum to advance the educational aims of the Museum.

The Company currently engages in a number of activities, including wholesale and retail, publishing, the production of replicas and other merchandise, and licencing. With such a rich collection of art and artefacts available the British Museum has a great plaform for offering many gifts.

Gifts for Him

The British Museum has a wide range of gifts for that special man in your life. Some of my favourites included exact replicas of some of the amazing pieces found at the British Museum. You can also get clocks, shirts, ties, mugs and all the other items you'd expect to find in the British Museum store.

Gifts for Her

The British Museum also contains a fascinating collection of gifts for the woman in your life. My particular favourite was the collection of Persian love poetry that contains extracts freshly translated from the best of traditional and contemporary Persian poetry, and illustrates them with some of the finest examples of Persian art in the British Museum.

Gifts for Children

The British Museum also offers an interesting range of gifts for the inquisitive youngsters out there. My fav was the book of Mummies. This wonderfully designed and colourfully illustrated little book offers a brief overview of the whole history of Egyptian mummification. With clear pictures and short, informative text the book describes a range of Egyptian mummies, from early people whose bodies were accidentally dried out in the hot desert sand, to the amazing mummies of the New Kingdom, whose every fingernail and hair has been perfectly preserved. Last of all come the mummies of Roman Egypt, with their beautiful and detailed realistic portrait masks. The book also shows a range of coffins, masks and grave goods, building up a fascinating picture of mummification in Ancient Egypt.
